Welcome to kinazini FUNZI DHOW Safaris!

Join us for an unforgettable day on a traditional dhow in one of the last  ecologically intact paradises on Earth. We pick you up from your hotel , early in the morning,  to drive to our base camp in Bodo , an ancient  fishing  village  about  1 hr south of Mombasa .

After a light Swahili breakfast you will board our dhow to sail to Funzi Island where you get a glimpse into the everyday life of a Shirazi Swahili village , unchanged for hundreds of years .

Then a canoe trip up the Ramisi river to explore  a unique eco-system , protected by dense mangroves . You will observe a large variety of birdlife  and  the occasional Crocodile and/or Giant Lizzard , from  a safe distance , of course.
The  dhow will then take you to the  solitude of a sandbank in the warm Indian Ocean , where you can swim and explore or just relax on the fine white sand for a while .

Next, the dhow will sail for Kinazini ,  our  uninhabited  Private  Island  Restaurant .  There’s a chance that  you will spot  Dolphins  and/or  Giant Sea Turtles  on the way.

Once there , you will enjoy a sumptuous Seafood BBQ lunch “Robinson Crusoe” style , including crab and/or lobster , if in season.  Special Meals are available upon Request  .  After lunch , you have time for a siesta , or to swim or explore the island before we sail back to Bodo for transfer back to your hotel in good time for dinner .

For your comfort and enjoyment , you will need to bring : Water friendly shoes (rubber or plastic), swimming  costume,   a hat  and lots of sun lotion.

Please note :  Soft Drinks onboard  and at  the restaurant are  included free of charge . We  do not sell Alcohol, however, you are welcome to bring your own  and we will provide coolers, ice and glasses . The sequence of activities is subject to change , in accordance with the tides .
